I am a walking oxymoron: a rabid, yet rational sports fan. One hundred percent of my rooting energy is directed at Minnesota sports teams and has been since the day of my birth. I was born on October 25th, 1987, the day the Twins won their first World Series. My dad was actually covering the Twins for the Minneapolis Star Tribune at the time so I really had no choice but to become a huge Minnesota sports fan. My love for baseball was forged at a young age and the Vikings incredible (yet tragic) 1998 season solidified my spot as a ridiculously loyal follower/supporter of the Purple. I also grew up mere blocks from the University of Minnesota St. Paul Campus listening to Gophers football while I raked leaves, watching Gophers hockey inside on a -30 degree January day and wearing high socks with shorts for three years in elementary school just because Bobby Jackson did for the amazing Gophers squad that officially never existed (R.I.P. 1997 Final Four run). The Timberwolves and the relatively new Wild are also loves of mine, but they are not as ingrained into my very being as are the Vikes, Twins and Gophs. I chose to attend the University of Wisconsin and it was the best choice of my life although the distinction between the University and the Badgers is one I definitely make. I love UW, not the Badgers. I will always be a Gophers fan. My four years living in the land of beer and cheese has solidified my love for Minnesota sports and the hatred I have for both Wisconsin and Chicago franchises. My sports media idols are Paul Allen (KFAN Radio) and Bill Simmons (ESPN.com), as well as the best one-two punch in all of TV broadcasting, Dick Bremer and Bert Blyleven (FSN Twins baseball).

All that being said, I plan to bring an unbiased approach to my writing and hope y'all enjoy.
