Johnny Lawrence

A 29-year-old part-time sports writer, I graduated from Michigan State University in 2006.

As an Editorial Assistant for a book publishing company in Detroit, I worked three years. I'm the Michigan/Ohio Regional Correspondent for, a stadium project led by B/R Senior Analyst Paul Swaney. I also cover sports for

I appeared as the Featured Guest on "The Knee Jerks" radio show hosted by Detroit writer Greg Eno. And the first professional interview I conducted was Scotty Bowman, the single-greatest coach in NHL history.

I am currently working on multiple freelance projects and I long to write for a professional sports franchise.

Baseball and travel have always been my two greatest passions, and someday I hope to combine the two in my professional life. I attend 50+ Detroit Tigers games each season and enjoy hitting the road to see the Tigs play in other cities. To date, I've been to 16 MLB parks; it is my goal to see all 30.

For a semester, I attended university in London, England. I've visited Sweden, Norway, and Ireland on weekend jaunts, and have seen 15 countries altogether. With no exceptions, I rank Interlaken, Switzerland, the most breathtaking, life-changing locale on earth.

Did I mention that Hall of Fame outfielder, Goose Goslin (registered the World Series-winning hit for Detroit in 1935), is my grandmother's cousin?

    Hey Johnny,

Here are two baseball stories I thought you might enjoy reading. The first is a behind the scenes look at putting together the Mets new Hall of Fame and museum with the help of collectors and guys down at Cooperstown, and the second is an interview with the man who owns the Mookie Wilson ball that got through Billy Buckner's legs. It is a pretty good story that I hope all baseball fans will enjoy.

    Any feedback would be fantastic.

Awesome Olympic slide-show. I know you copied Matt G, but oh well, I'll get over it (joke). I commented on it, basically repeating what you said, so I guess I "copied" your stance on the issue. Keep up the great work.

    Hey Johnny,

I'm writing articles about the MLB 9s and thought you'd be interested in the Detroit Tigers' piece.

Any feedback or thoughts would be appreciated.
