From the time he first put pencil to paper (OK, maybe not THAT long, but you get the idea), friends and family have always told Steve Auger “you need to write about sports.”
Why he didn’t listen to them sooner merely proves the great life axiom that everyone discovers with age. That being, young people are stupid (totally kidding…please resist the temptation to send a hate email or to leave a comment informing me that with a little bit of age, I’m still stupid).
So when Auger stumbled upon the Bleacher Report website, he decided to finally combine his love of writing and his passion for sports. He was even fortunate enough to have one of his B/R articles linked to Sports Illustrated On Campus.
In 2008, Auger completed the Journalism Certificate program at UMass-Amherst, since, you know, he figured if he’s going to write about sports, some instruction on the proper way to write might be slightly helpful. Prior to that, he earned a Certificate from the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in July 2007.
If forced to pick a favorite sport, Auger would go with college hoops every day of the week and twice on Sunday. But he also follows college pigskin and the Red Sox pretty religiously. If given one sporting wish, it would be that Andre Agassi could play forever.
In Auger's spare time, he is a workout freak and health nut (just say no to Fat America), watches re-runs of The Shield (if he was a cop, he’d be feared like Vic Mackey…but minus the corruption and murders, and such). And yes, Auger is well aware he uses a lot of parentheses.
Feel free to stop by and drop him a line or comment. He'd love to hear from you. And as always, Auger will gladly sign a colored 8" by 10" glossy for you...just ask.
And yes, he realizes that he wrote his whole bio in the third person. If you can’t find that funny, you need to learn to laugh.
