Rob Rains has been writing about sports in St. Louis and nationally for more than 30 years. He is now running a website covering all St. Louis sports, Stlsportspage.com. He is the author of 31 books, including his latest, Intentional Walk, an inside look at the faith that drives the St. Louis Cardinals., published in 2013 by Thomas Nelson.

Among his other books are biographies or autobiographies of Jack Buck, Tony La Russa, Mark McGwire and Ozzie Smith. He is a former Cardinals beat writer for the St. Louis Globe-Democrat and was one of the founding writers of USA Today Baseball Weekly, (now Sports Weekly) covering the National League. His biography of McGwire in 1998 (St. Martin’s Press) reached The New York Times’ bestseller list.

Rains is a lifetime member of the Baseball Writers Association of America and of the Baseball Hall of Fame. He also is an adjunct professor in the school of communications at Webster University in St. Louis.
