Travis Nelson

Travis has been writing about baseball since 2002. He started the Boy of Summer blog in August of that year and has had his work featured on Baseball Outsider, 360thePitch, All-Baseball, and MVN. Travis also once was interviewed for a local TV station, got a snarky one-line letter to Sports Illustrated published, interviewed Jim Palmer (sort of), met Lou Piniella in a Nordstrom in Paramus, NJ, and didn't shake Ron Guidry's hand. That was a lie. Also, he's probably taller than you.

Several years back, you reviewed my last baseball book "Hammerin' Hank, George Almighty and the Say Hey Kid." Thanks for that. Thought you might be interested in my forthcoming book about another Hank: "Hank Greenberg: The Hero of Heroes," due out March 5, 2013, from New American Library (Penguin). You can see more and read excerpts at If you'd like a review copy, email me directly:
    Thanks, John

I thought you might like this piece. It’s a personal look back at the Florida Marlins incredibly shocking upset of the New York Yankees in the 2003 World Series.

Let me know what you think.

Great work recently..Do you have interest in a Royals Community Leader position, or is your heart with the Yankees?
