Hey Keith, I had a couple of quick (and specific) questions about the Writing Application for B/R.
1) How much does age and experience factor into your decision? I'm only 16 years old, though I did begin a v-blog on YouTube early this summer, and it has garnered some attention from the basketball community, with most of my videos averaging 1000+ views . Will that factor into your consideration? Should I include it under the "Formal Journalism" tab?
2) Can you give an rough estimate of the number of applicants that get in per month? I understand its, at most, 15%, but are you allowed to disclose a specific number as well?
Hey, thanks for becoming a fan. I enjoy reading the B/R articles and picking them apart. A lot of the writers (but not all) featured on the Chicago Bulls page aren't very good writers -- there are factual mistakes, misspelled names, poor grammar, excessive wordiness (I declined to read a 1,600 word article just today), etc. I guess they don't have 25 years of experience in journalism and haven't followed the bulls for 40+ years. I recently applied for, and was accepted, into the B/R writer program but haven't followed up because I understand there is no pay involved. Bummer. Too bad I can't fit in somehow as a writer or editor. Anywho, thanks again!
