Classicist, journalist, freelance graphic design artist, Scotophile (apparently that's the Scotland version of Anglophile...) history buff, movie fan, wannabe linguist, and sports enthusiast in development. I graduated from Northwestern University in 2009 with a double major in Journalism and Classics with a concentration in Greek and Latin. My interests (clearly) don't always make much sense together. It just means I'm open to many things right?

Quite a latecomer to being a sports fan. Really didn't care much about it until the 2007 college football season One bizarre season, (we all know what happened that season right?) was enough for me to keep on following football to the dismay of my friends. My fall Saturdays are pretty much spent in front of the TV/ computer screen....The discovery that I like watching/reading about sports has since expanded.

Thanks to one of my college roommate, started watching tennis this year during the French Open--right when Robin Soderling defeated Rafael Nadal. Since then, I've gained a favorite athlete in Soderling (I'm in the minority, I know), and a slightly obsessive tennis watching habit that's led to waking up at ungodly hours to watch matches on the other side of the world.

Tennis and College Football are my favorites, but I can probably be convinced to follow any sport if I'm given a few good inspirational stories or some type of championship series. Watched the entire World Series rooting for the Phillies and discovering why people hate the Yankees so much. Love the Olympics-- summer and winter, and learning more about the less attention grabbing sports-- curling, biathlon, Nordic combined etc..

The same college roommate who got me addicted to tennis is also currently attempting to achieve the same with Soccer. With the World Cup approaching...we'll see how that goes. :)

    Hi Jessica,

I just wrote a piece about the Winter Olympics. While it's centered around Team USA, I though you might enjoy reading it, especially considering you have blogged about winter sports in the past.

I'd love to hear what you think.

The "reply" button hates he, so I'll respond this way...
I've had to cut back a lot.
When I first started writing here, I had a () in just about every paragraph.
(Now, it's more like every two or three...awww [beaver dwelling]it! Here I go again!)

Thanks for the edits (and the positive feedback, parentheses were made for humor, IMO, and that's what I strive for)
