Great article, "Did Ohio State Get Screwed out of the Final 2017 Playoff Spot?" Yes.
The committee should go the way of the BCS formula and there has to be an easier system.
    1. Choose a Conference Champion by any method (wins, elimination, # of players arrested, a fight in the street, etc.).
    2. Randomly draw those conference champions to playoffs - to ensure that two conferences do not play each other in sequential years.
    3. Play games to eliminate until you have 2.
    4. Final championship game.
    5. Annual bragging rights.

While remembering that the SEC is ONE conference.
It may require the elimination of some of the non-conference games during the season.

Your article is completely nonsensical. 1) the lower tier conferences would never get an automatic bid into a field of 16. 2) Ohio State did not win the Big 10 which was one of your requirements to be in the playoff, PSU won. Michigan would not be an at large team as Ohio State would be the at large team. 3) Winning the conference would never be a requirement. Using your logic had Florida upset Alabama in the title game, a 10-3 Florida team would have made the playoffs. Or worse yet, had Virginia Tech upset Clemson, a 10-3 VT team in the playoffs. There is ZERO percent chance any of the above would ever occur.

What about Lattimore getting hurt in October 2010 and the whole Tennessee bench coming onto the field to honor him??? How could that not make your list??

What's so special about previewing UM v. Minn game? How about preview of Notre Dame & Temple who are both ranked teams or Stanford v. Wash St.?
Bleacher publishes disproportionate number of UM/Harbaugh stories.

Lets see stories like McElwain of Florida, Herman of Houston, Narduzzi of Pitt etc.

LOVE the 30 plus bowls and glad you liked them. They would be kept in real FBC 32 team playoff. Both Baylor/ TCU would have emerged winner in a small 8 team as the highest scoring Teams in the nation, would have met in the Championship.
The Big 12 is rare in playing a round robin and meet every Conf Team. That' nine rough games.
The 32 Team playoff would play about Dec2, Dec 9 , Four Bowls on JAN 1, JAN 9, AND the championship about Jan17 .

If two or four teams from One conference OR ANOTHER think they are DIVINELY APPOINTED to PLAY in the NC GAME and DENY all other worthy TEAMS a chance, then it is TIME for a little March Madness in the world of college football. Lets have a REAL PLAYOFF and call it December MADNESS. And a $BILLION in travel and TEAM revenues.

Here we go again. College foot ball fans MEEKLY accepting the NONSENSE put out by the MEDIA that a REAL football playoff of 32 teams is IMPOSSIBLE, too burdensome, or TAKES too much TIME from CLASS.
Basketball does it with 64. College football can easily do it with a 32 team playoff. No more BITTER FANS screaming MY TEAM got LEFT OUT. Basketball has March Madness. COLLEGE FOOTBALL needs December Madness.

ALABAMA in all its GREATNESS Lost a last Second STUNNER. Then the UNFAIR bullet or restriction BACKFIRED on them. Now they and about 30 or 40 or 60 other schools MUST SIT on the sidelines and Compete for LESSER GLORY than the NC TITLE. This is Totally Unnecessary and listen or read on :

I thought America had no ROYATY. Prince William gets to be King of England by doing nothing. He was BORN that WAY.
I think that Alabama is a Magnificent machine , a Great football team, but it has humans on its team. Humans Err. They are not Gods. No team Deserves the NC Game. You lose . YOU are out.
The SEC IS a truly powerful Conference. Three years ago the BCS robbed Oklahoma State which was 11-1 the chance to play in the NC TITLE. REmember They were 11-1. Alabama was awarded the game against TWO LOSS LSU.
Nothing FAIR ABOUT THAT. Oklahoma State Would have been CHOSEN in a real Playoff. OKLAHOMA UPSET Alabama last year. In a continuation of Genuine PLAY They WOULD have met Florida state. TREVOR KNIGHT against the Seminoles. Do you like the ODDS.
NO BCS. No 4 TEAM Playoff. But a 32 Team or 64 TEAM Playoff can work. Here is how:

First, Leave all FBS teams with the Fun and Reward of Playing the 30 plus Bowl Games. And 4 PLAYOFF BOWLS would be used on Jan 1 each year for the Elite 8 CFB playoff BOWLS.
And A $BILLION IN PLAYOFF MONEY In Gate receipt$, Hotel, tourist MONEY, Sueveniers and TRAVEL for the cities and Teams involved.

    A Simple Guide by J D
FACT: There are always 13 SATURDAYS in the 92 days of September thru November.

STEP ONE: Require all teams to finish their 12 GAMES by the END of NOVEMBER. There would be TIME for ONE OPEN DATE . Or TWO using the LAST SATURDAY in AUGUST.
STEP TWO: Have an NCAA selection committee PICK the TOP 32 Football Teams: FOUR Divisions would be set up:
    East, South, Midwest, West.
Four Number One Seeds would be chosen in each Division and progressively on down: Number Two through Eight.
SEED Number One would play Number Eight, Number Two plays Number Seven and so on.

STEP THREE: SIXTEEN GAMES would be played ( 32 Chosen Teams) on the First Saturday in December. The SWEET SIXTEEN winners would play on the second Saturday in December.
STEP FOUR: The Elite Eight Winners are in the HIGHEST FOUR BOWLS called CHAMPIONSHIP BOWLS and would be played on New Years Day.
STEP FIVE: The FOUR QUARTER FINAL TEAMS play their TWO GAMES on January 8 or later.
STEP SIX : THE FINALS: 2 WINNERS would play a week later near January 17 for the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.
Conclusion: Only FOUR TEAMS would NEED to PLAY past the HOLIDAY Weekend of January the 1st. And the REST of the TEAMS could GO BACK TO their Studies and Classes.

Also: The 30 plus BOWLS are kept . The LOSERS in the FIRST or SECOND Round can PLAY again in any BOWLS but the FOUR CHAMPIONSHIP BOWLS and win and rejoin the Top Twenty five.

Remember any team LOSING in the FIRST or SECOND WEEK of the Playoffs could STILL be INVITED to ONE of the 30 plus bowls.
IF TEAMS THINK They are the BEST, then let them PROVE IT on the Battlefield of Play. ONE team out of the 32 Teams chosen will win 5 games in a row and be true National Champ.!!!

Thanks for reading . My main concern is that somewhere, somehow, in my lifetime an Unfair 4 TEAM Playoff will be abolished. Every 8-3 team in the top 40 or 65 Teams will have respect and a chance to win it all.
This will bring in $1 BILLION dollars or more to the Teams and their Schools.

Not a problem, David. I did notice the similarity to the headline (other than the headline missing the last name), but I figured it'd be safer to go with what was in the text body. Regardless, great work!

Please recommend an Andris Biedrins Spurs confidence re-building project. Biedrins is still young, 28 years old. He had been a solid center (double-double + 2blks, solid FG%) in the past but had lost his confidence along the way. Please recommend him as a reclamation/reboot project. It will be easier and a higher reward than to stick with projects that are not developing (aka Jeff Ayres/Austin Daye). He'll benefit from Tim's mentoring and could be an heir apparent or at least a solid candidate at center. He'll benefit from Chip's shooting coaching, especially for free throws. And Pop can bring back his confidence and toughness. The guys/teammates and the whole organizations can bring back his competitive drive and love for the game. He can also be signed for cheap because of very little interest. A very high reward low risk proposition. Please recommend to GM RC Buford please by email or article. Please please.

I dont think Donofrio has the football intelligence to adapt to a first-class program. But, if Im wrong or D'Onofrio adapts, I will be the first to say I was wrong. However, how long can we wait for a coordinator who is not only creative, smart and charismatic, but also instills a warrior attitude in his players? I looked at his resume from the beginning and knew he was a major risk. I compared him w other D coordinators at the time and the D coordinator at Florida for example had 13 yrs of pro experience not to mention all the college experience. Im not a football expert, but instead of schemes that were easily picked apart week after week, he, like all great coaches could've adapted and used what talent he had. If I were the D coordinator, I would've taken my undersized guys and used it to my advantage. I would have (like Louisville did) put 9 guys on the line and sent a different blitz package every play to confuse an offset the offense. He's had 4 yrs now to develop players. We've had a lot of patience w him, but have seen my Canes get humiliated in big games week after week, yr after yr. I have called-off the criticism for now because he wasn't fired after all like we all hoped he would be. But, as I said, I am not waiting for the end of the 2014 season to do everything I can to get rid of him just as Butch Davis finally had to get rid of his close friend Miller. Miller was full of excuses week after week, but someone had to take the responsibility and it was a great decision because The Canes hired Greg Schiano who took the team to the next level. So Golden, take a cue: I dont care what personal sacrifices you have to make, this is not about you...this is about bringing a National Championship back to Miami and reestablishing the dynasty.
