I love Mark Messier more than a good pair of shoes, but I like shoes considerably more than the Rangers' front office.

I'll be honest and say that I'm unbiased about 20% of the time (the 80% of the time that I'm TRYING to be unbiased, I'm usually bashing the Islanders), so bear with me. If you can manage to sort through my articles, you'll find that they're backed up by years of me thinking about nothing but hockey.

Many of my articles stem from random thoughts that I have throughout the day. Deal with the nonsense. I promise it has something to do with hockey.

My blog (the link is over at "Allison's Website") "Not Now, I'm Watching the Game" is a good look inside the inanely odd mind of a female hockey fan. It's mostly unedited and completely ridiculous. It lets me remember that first and foremost, before being a hockey fan, I am female.

(I am now officially a huge fan of Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson...which means watching even more Western Conference hockey in the upcoming season)

Wow your dads family is form sicily! My fathers, father's side is from just across the water in Calabria. You can see Sicily from my grandfathers village on a good day! The Vallone's (changed to Vallon on Ellis Island) are nice but the mentality is just a bit too much for me. I grew up on Long Island in an italian neighborhood before moving north with my parents while i was a freshman in high school. I used to wonder where the "tamars" in my neighborhood came up with all their macho mannerisms and gesticulating. When i visted Calabria I knew where it came from. It was an experience-i actually spent over a year and a half living on a farm i southern Calabria.

I noticed you wrote you were majoring in eastern european studies. i actually forgot to mention that i liked your profile. Great sense of humor! I loved how you closed. A hockey fan seeing things from a womans perspective-excellent stuff.

Bulgaria? Very interesting. Ive not been to Bulgaria myself. Ive been to Ukraine, Russia, Poland, East germany (not exactly eastern europe anymore but :-). I wasnt too fond of it to be honest. There was such a disparity between rich and poor. It was too much for me at times. I felt the same way I did drving through the heart of mexico. But i think theres a great history and loads to study. Im sure youll have a blast!

Sweden was wonderful. I loved the landscape, found th epeople very similar to myself. There was the hockey, love of witty conversation with a good drink, and the love of the great outdoors! Skiing, fishing, ice fishing, was great. So youre learning Russian? Difficult im sure. I know a few words only. Pogovorim poszhe.

Im living just outside Tuscany, not too far from Florence actually-about 1.5 hours by car into Umbria in a smalll town near Perugia. My family, well my dads family is from this part of the world so i speak the language and am used to the life here. I hate to say this but I dont like it. im tired of it. i feel about as home in italy as a polar bear would on skates. :-) Its not all bad but there are so many things i miss about home. This winter i did get to a bit of travelling, spending time in Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, France, England and Spain. France, Spain, and Eastern Europe were certainly noe for me but I really liked England...London was fantastic. But my fave places were Sweden and Finland. i got in on so many hockey games, had a chance to see Hedman and Forsberg play and had a blast-great countries and a fantastic way of life.

Naples? Ive not ventured there yet. Ive a good friend from down that way. My family is originally form even farther south. If the people are anythgin like my dad i think im going to opt out of any trip past rome :-) Florence is nice-its a great place for a vacation just not so sure if its possible to live in italy on a permanent basis. Have you travelled anywhere else in Europe?

Who says Devils and Ranger fans dont get on well! Your best friend is a Devil fan and your biggest fan on the BR is a devil fan as well. As you can tell by whats transpired with my article Im not too high up on a few Devs fans lists. The one guy that was civil to me was a Ranger fan actually.

Id love to see the reaction youd get if you went out and got yourself an Avery/Clarkson jersey. Only the true hockey fans would get it!

I dont know if i told you, but Im actually in Italy. Im working here at the moment. My parents are actually form this neck of the woods. I asked my boss two months back if i could come in in the afternoon as i had to stay up late. I told him it was for personal reasons. i couldnt exactly say so i could watch the playoffs!

lol. You should get a shirt with Clarksons name on one side and Averys on the other. I think youd get an awful ot of stares! Is your friend a Devil fan?

As much as i hate Avery i think he's great for hockey. i dont like some of his antics but he makes the games more watchable. He's a guy i love to hate! Without guys like Avery, C. Lemieux wouldnt hockey be less exciting?

But in all seriousness-Get the Clarkson shirt (with or without Averys name on one side). He's on the road to becming one of leagues personalities. I hope!

    Hey Allison,
Dont worry about not being able to post a comment. I appreciate the fact that you read the article. You are very astute for a Ranger fan! Im joking with you of course-not that youre astut-for the part about being so despite being a ranger fan :-).

I dont know if we are going to be able to sign Gionta. Tough one. i really love the guy but at the same time signing him is going to hurt us and i think hurt him as well. we cant get a center if we sign him. if we dont get a center he's back to square one. tough one. i still wpuld rather sign him, hten just compalin about a lack of a center. too big if a fan to see him go. one of only a handful of nhlers shorter than i am! gotta love him.

I agree with you-get rid of Gomez. I hate th eguy to be honest. he has some skills but i think he's soft and arrogant,a nd only cares about himself. i stopped liking him a few years before he left the Devs. Id try and dump Gomez's salary. Good call.

Thanks for the read. We'll exchange more links soon im sure and keep well.

As usual great hearing from you.

As a hockey fan I felt that the Conference Finals were mostly uninteresting, and I wasn't really inspired by watching them. I wrote an article about it. Let me know your thoughts.
