First, as a Nebraska native, I want to thank Bo Pelini for his service. There is no question that the job at Nebraska is extremely difficult, but the program is clearly in much, much better shape than when he arrived to take it over. There are those that don't like Bo's temperament, but at the time, he was the best available man for the job that would take it, and without question, he resurrected the program. He'll easily find another job.

There are those that say Eichorst should have waited another year because there were injuries this year, the players need a bit more seasoning, and it's not like Bo's team was a dismal failure. Then there are those that say the program had clearly reached a plateau under Bo, and needs to take the next step. If you share any of these opinions, I'll grant them to you.

But a mistake? No, it's a choice, and to understand Nebraska football, it's critical that you understand the nature of the choice. In Nebraska, you evaluate what you have against what could be in terms of the direction and future of the program.

And when it comes time to make the decision, you line up and go for two.

Nobody said Sam was the first openly gay football player, stop spinning it that way. He's what actually matters: the first openly gay player to enter the NFL draft and become the first openly gay PROFESSIONAL football player. There's a big difference when you're talking context of a college student participating in extracurricular activities, versus a professional workplace subject to federal work laws and regulations concerning discrimination.

Erin how about an article supporting Will Shields for induction into NFL HOF. You and the other B/R NE writers could make a difference. Local newspaper writers on the coast are not supporting him in their articles or prognostications. Get with some of the writers you know and make the case for Will. His stats and character "Will" speak for themselves.
