Ryo Miyaichi was plying his trade in a local Japanese high school, unheard of to the rest of the world. However, Ryo's lightning-quick footwork and brilliant technique had attracted some high-profile attention from many club scouts the world over. However, one group in particular seemed adamant in the player's ability—Arsene Wenger's scouts.

The Arsenal manager meticulously followed the performances of the young Japanese prodigy through several local Japanese high school football matches. Ryo's magnificent footballing abilities had significantly impressed Wenger, and the latter showed no signs of hesitation in acquiring the signature of the highly-rated Japanese winger. Ryo had thus officially become an Arsenal player, a remarkable transition from an anonymous kid to a professional footballer of one of the greatest clubs in the world.

At the tender age of 18, Ryo Miyaichi became the subject of great spectacle among Arsenal supporters the world over. It would not be long before fans would speak of the Japanese wonderkid over a glass of beer in pubs, and Ryo Miyaichi would fast become a household name in England.

The Japanese winger is currently playing for Dutch Eredivisie side Feyenoord, after being loaned out by Arsenal in an attempt to provide Ryo with invaluable experience as a first-team player. After only his second appearance for the Dutch outfit, Ryo has already become a fan favourite. The Japanese scored a sublime goal and electrified the home crowd with an immaculate all-round display that was followed by a deafening roar of "Ryo, Ryo, Ryo" from the Feyenoord faithful at the interval.

A natural winger, Ryo is essentially the perfect replacement for Arshavin at Arsenal. Both players possess similar attributes: thrilling pace, exhilarating footwork, beautiful close control and a lethal eye on goal. Ryo, however, has an additional advantage over Arshavin—youth.

With Arshavin having arguably passed the peak of his career, it would be inevitable the young Japanese sensation will take over the Russian's mantle as Arsenal's first-choice winger in the near future.

Behold the phenomenon that is Ryo Miyaichi.
