New Mexico 23, UTSA 20—Final

New Mexico wins the first bowl of the year, holding off UTSA by a 23-20 margin in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl.

Junior Rock McQuarley led the way for the Lobos, running for 68 yards and two touchdowns on the day. Quarterback Lamar Jordan added 158 offensive yards of his own, and the defense did its job in preserving a narrow victory.

On the side, UTSA just couldn't make enough plays in its first bowl appearance. Quarterback Dalton Sturm led a late drive to bring the Roadrunners within a field goal, but the onside kick was recovered by New Mexico to seal a 6-7 record for the season.

The bowl win is New Mexico's first under coach Bob Davie, and the program's second since 1961. The Lobos will finish 9-4.
