Report: New York Giants Bring Back Former CB Aaron Ross on 1-Year Deal

The Giants secondary struggled tremendously in 2012.

So to add some depth, the team brought back a name many fans will remember.

According to Mike Garafolo of USA Today, the Giants will sign Aaron Ross to a one-year deal.

Terms of the deal have not been released yet.

Ross was a first-round pick by the Giants back in 2007. He was also on the team for two of the Giants Super Bowl defenses in 2007 and 2011.

After the 2011 season, the Giants decided to let Ross walk as a free agent and re-signed Terrell Thomas to a four-year deal.

However, Thomas was out again for 2012 when he partially tore his ACL in the summer. Ross ended up signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars for 2012.

During the 2012 season, when we all saw the Giants struggle in the secondary, a lot of Giant fans probably said sometime during the year that they could have used Ross.

With the Jaguars' new GM and coach doing a major team re-shuffle with a new GM and coach, a lot of their players aren't being brought back. Ross ended up being was cut by the team on March 8.

Bringing Ross back makes sense given the team's lack of depth, especially with Corey Webster struggling, Thomas being lost for all of 2012 and Prince Amukamara and Jayron Hosley still in their development stages.

In 2012, Ross had just 46 total tackles with no interceptions on a lousy 2-14 Jaguars team. Jacksonville also ranked 29th in the NFL and gave up 444 total points.

Overall, it's not a flashy move, but for depth purposes, it was a good move to make for the Giants secondary and defense.
