This Sunday, at Royal Rumble, John Cena will be defending the World Heavyweight Championship against John "Bradshaw" Layfield, the same man Cena beat at WrestleMania 21 to win his first WWE Championship. Now, with Shawn Michaels in JBL's corner, it seems that Cena's days as champion are numbered.
It was at Armageddon when JBL named HBK his new employee. Then they had a "Road to the Rumble" Fatal Four Way Elimination Match, along with Randy Orton and Chris Jericho, to determine the number one contender for the World Heavyweight title. Shawn was able to eliminate both Jericho and Orton before being forced to take JBL's Clothesline from Hell to allow him to pick up the win.
Cena is never one to back down from a challenge. He's beaten the likes of Jericho, Orton, The Great Khali, Big Show, Umaga, Edge, Triple H, HBK, and, of course, JBL, just to name a few.
John Cena and JBL had fought at five PPVs; the last one was at The Great American Bash, where Cena went through a windshield at the conclusion of their NYC Parking Lot Brawl. He must be itching to get his hands on JBL since then.
Now where does all of this leave HBK? My prediction is that JBL will win the World Heavyweight Championship, only to lose the title to Shawn at No Way Out. Then maybe The Undertaker, who I'm predicting to win the Royal Rumble, can challenge HBK for the title at WrestleMania 25 and win it to start his long title reign.
I don't think this match is compelling. I mean, we've already seen five matches between the two titans, and these aren't instant classics. They are good, but not great.
